Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring - Why We Love The Seasons

Seasonal Treats: Fresh, Sustainable, and Delicious for Your Pets

At My Pet Life, one of our core values is sustainability and doing our bit for the environment. A huge part of that is plastic reduction - we believe in creating wholesome, delicious treats for your furry companions while being mindful of the planet - and another way we can do that is if we use seasonal produce in our treats.

We want to raise awareness on little things that everyone can do - by focusing on fruits and vegetables that are in season, we can offer the freshest flavours, support local farmers, and reduce our environmental impact—all while ensuring your pets get the very best.  It does mean you may see some changes in terms of what’s on offer throughout the year.

Why Seasonal Produce Matters

Choosing seasonal produce isn’t just good for the environment; it’s also beneficial for your pets - and for you. Here’s why we want to be mindful of this when we create our treats:

  • Freshness and Flavor: Seasonal produce is harvested at its peak, meaning it’s fresher, tastier, and more nutrient-rich than out-of-season alternatives.

  • Sustainability: By using locally available, in-season ingredients, we reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation and storage.

  • Supporting Local Communities: Sourcing from local farms not only ensures quality but also supports growers in our community.

  • Variety: Embracing the seasons means we can offer an exciting rotation of flavors throughout the year, keeping things fun and fresh for your pets.

  • Year-Round Availability: Some seasonal ingredients, like mint, can be preserved to ensure they’re available year-round. For example, we can freeze fresh mint when harvested, and we can infuse it into other ingredients when it’s in season, creating a long-lasting supply for our treats.

How Seasonal Flavors Benefit Your Pets

Rotating seasonal flavors doesn’t just keep your pets’ taste buds excited; it also ensures a diverse array of nutrients in their diet. For example:

  • Spring and Summer: These seasons bring vibrant, hydrating fruits like peaches, melons, and berries, perfect for light and refreshing treats.

  • Fall and Winter: Root vegetables like pumpkin, sweet potato, and carrots provide warmth and nourishment during cooler months.

Looking Ahead: Seasonal Innovations

We’re constantly experimenting with new ingredients that align with the seasons. Our latest flavour is in testing as we speak - Peach Crumble Bites for the doggies and Peach Calming Cookies for the horses. Details will be added to the website in the coming days.

Have a suggestion or request for a seasonal flavour? We’d love to hear it! Your input helps us create treats that you and your pets will adore.

At My Pet Life, we’re proud to do our best to support the environment and local communities.
